Queen City Preservation is a new citywide nonprofit dedicated to empowering Springfield, MO residents to preserve and reimagine the city’s historic homes and buildings. We offer free or donation-based seminars, hands-on workshops, and accessible resources to make preservation education engaging and inclusive.
THE POSITION
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented intern for our Content Creator position. You will help build and shape our digital presence during this exciting early phase. This internship offers significant creative freedom—you’ll have the chance to build our digital voice, pitch new ideas, and take real ownership of projects. You’ll operate with the support of our team but with the entrepreneurial flexibility to test strategies and make informed creative decisions that directly influence a growing nonprofit’s brand. This position is ideal for a self-starting student interested in nonprofit communications, historic preservation, architecture, community engagement, marketing, design, and/or creative strategy.

Assist in developing our social media strategy across Instagram and Facebook
Create engaging content (graphics, reels, stories, captions) that align with our brand
Track early-stage metrics and provide insights on audience engagement
Support content planning around events, workshops, and community initiatives
Help maintain a consistent visual identity and tone across platforms
Monitor trends and brainstorm new ideas to grow reach and engagement
Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and neighborhood associations to highlight community stories
Optional (if available/interested): Draft short-form articles, spotlights, or educational posts about preservation topics. Assist with photography or simple video at events

Curious about preservation, architecture, or helping the community
Comfortable creating designs in Canva or Adobe
Interested & competent in social media strategy + communications
A strong writer who can tell a good story
Able to work independently and manage your own time
Bonus: familiar with Later, Google Docs, or basic video editing software such as CapCut

Insight into analyzing metrics, early strategy, and audience growth

We are happy to collaborate with faculty to ensure your internship meets any academic or credit-related requirements.
Estimated 3–6 hours per week — flexible, dependent on your output/schedule, with the potential to adjust based on scheduled programming
Unpaid internship, eligible for academic credit if approved by your program (trust us, we wish we could pay you too!).
